   The idea of forming a snowmobile club in Ilion had been thought about for a couple of years, finally in 1970 the club was "born". We started out with a few members and have now grown to over 250 families ! When we first started out there wasn't really any type of grooming but soon more traffic on the trails made it necessary to start some sort of grooming. We started out with various types of homebuilt drags towed behind our personal snowmobiles, our first club snowmobile was a 1970 something Polaris Charger. In the early '90s we acquired our first true grooming snowmobile, a Yamaha VK 540. A few years after that we got our first class "A" groomer which was a 1961 Thiokol Spryte with a "Pat Built" drag. We have since sold both of them and now out grooming fleet consists of a 2002 Tucker 2000 Terra Track with an Mogul Master 18-09 drag, 1979 Tucker 1642 ME  with an AFMI drag and 1 Ski Doo Skandic with various types of drags. We sure have come along way since 1970 ! To top it all off the club purchased 27 acres of land just outside of Ilion right on trail C7A. We now have a clubhouse/groomer barn located on the land.
